An interview
may be one of the most stressful moments in life, and with a very short time to
convince your potential employer that you’re the “perfect fit”. Fortunately
there are many things you can do to knock your interview out of the ballpark,
and come across as a self-assured ‘ball player’
Think Of All the
People Who Trust In You
Reread your endorsements if you have to and remember your references. There are people out there who recommended you for a reason. It will make you feel better knowing that even if you didn't get the position, it doesn't mean you suck at life. It just means that wasn't the place for you.
Don't Think Of What This Job Can Do For You, Think Of What You Can Do For Them
If you keep telling yourself how broke you are and how bad you need a job, you'll go in sounding desperate and hopeful. Instead, tell yourself "I can do XYZ for this company and will be a great ability." It will help you focus on your strengths, which is what all employers want to hear!
Clear Your Head Of Negative Thoughts
This sounds easier said than done, but it's so necessary. Negative thoughts will distract you, and that's the last thing you need. To be more focused and confident you need to have a positive mindset. Remind yourself that you are lucky to be called for a job interview - many people don't get a shot at all.
Remember Why You Got Called In the First Place
Employers get TONS of resumés all the time. For someone to sort through them and pick you for an interview means you're in a pool of no more than 10 people. That's enough to know that you truly are amazing and capable of rocking this interview
